The objective of this assignment is to enable students:

To understand the basic concepts of Information Systems (IS).

To understand the concepts of management styles and closed and open Systems.

Question 1:

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) is a famous telecommunication company in Pakistan providing telephonic and internet services throughout the country. You are required to identify any four functional areas/departments of this company and mention at least two information requirements for each of these functional areas. To get company information and their functional areas/departments, visit the website of PTCL (https://ptcl.com.pk).

Solution:

Functional Area/Department	Information Requirements
1. Finance	There are three departments in it. Finance, Accounts, and Revenue. The finance department deals with revenue matters of the company and the accounts department deals with proper bookkeeping of financial transactions, commercial audits.
2. Marketing	This department deals with market research and gives feedback to management. The purpose of this department is to check customers' needs and wants on the basis of which products and services are developed.
3. Commercial	This department is being established with qualified and experienced staff. The purpose of this department is to analyze all possible company options i.e., introducing new services, adopting new technologies to maintain the leading role.
4. Revenue	This department is generated by the marketing department. In this department selling the company, products are collected by the Revenue Department. The purpose of this department is Bill printing & distribution, issuance of duplicated bills, error collection of bills.

Question 2:
